With an influx in growth in the poetry community, there has been an increasing list of album releases over the past two years; sometimes you can miss the really good ones. Well Freedom Verse Café is not chucking the responsibility to the next show or venue, but instead we are doing what we are commissioned (not monetary, but by spirit and love) to do in supporting the poetic community by publicizing good poetry when heard. I am excited to announce a couple of NEWLY RELEASED albums that have caught FVC’s attention.

As a poet, speaker, and journalist Amena Brown’s words excite, ignite and inspire. Whether in front of audiences as intimate as 50 or as sprawling as 20,000, she has something to say that matters. Check out her new album “Live at Java Monkey” available in CD and download versions for a decent price.

Mannie the Poet’s passion for poetry comes from the depth of his soul, and his energetic performance and strength are heart felt within his performances. In this project Mannie touches on topics relevant today and will echo well into the future; speaking on subjects political in nature, love/erotic, and historical. Pick up Mannie’s sophomore album “Reinvention” available today in CD format and downloads will be available soon. This album sold more than 300 copies in pre-release to highly satisfied customers, so don’t miss out!

Lennelle Moise is collaborating with Kickstarter to raise $5500 before December 22 to bring you “The Expatriate Amplification Project”, a 12-track CD of the music I wrote for my celebrated two-woman play “Expatriate”. Here's a NEW VIDEO: Here and if you like what you hear and see, please spread the word, pre-order the CD and let's reach this goal!

If you remember Poetic Xpressions, if you wanted more from Poetic Xpressions you'll love this project by Sir Charles Cary. This project is a blend of Spoken word poetry, Hip Hop, R & B, Blues, and Classical themes that leave you wondering what you’ve been listening to all this time. What stands out most is the positive message needed in today’s ever declining musical values where misogyny sells, and positivism is pushed to the bottom of the well. Check out “Around the Mic w/ Sir Charles” available in CD and download.

Blake Parker began this project with audio recording of a number of previously unpublished works at the studio of his friend and collaborator Jude Davison. These works were originally created and presented as oral stories. At the beginning of the project the creation of a spoken word archive was as far as things were going to go. This quickly changed as Jude began to create music for the pieces. If you like storytelling laced with a jazzy vibe, then you have to check out Blake & Jude’s “The Terminal City Trilogy 3: Highway Blues” available in CD and download.

EARTHOLOGY is the follow up project to EKLIPSE released in 2004. This CD is a beautiful blend of Spoken Word, Soul, Hip Hop and Jazz. Floyd Boykin Jr., founder and creator of SpokenVizions Magazine and SpokenVizions.com has released an excellent third solo music project. This project is feature packed with artists such as Malcolm-Jamal Warner, Maya Azucena, Tantra-Zawadi, Marc Marcel, Al Caldwell, Tia from Gravaty, Tracy Mitchell, Lamar Harris, Coco Soul, Angela Shaw, Seviin Li, Ms. Nterpretation, El Thought, CHILL, Derek Brown, Tylan, Patricia Daniels, Jacquette M. Boykin, Indigo Lee and Tyrone, and many more. “Earthology” Available in CD and download.

Rachel Walker's “Walk With Me” is the 2009 debut release from Rachel Walker. The set offers an eclectic and harmonious blend of classic R&B music infused with sophisticated jazz and hip-hop influences. Rachel’s vivid storytelling and sultry vocals take audiences on an impassioned journey of relationships, love, pain and hope. Rachel will touch the hearts, minds and spirits of diverse audiences across the globe with her music and passion for love and life. “Walk with Me” is available in CD and download.

This should be enough to tie you over 'til next week this time...
